The following is a helpful checklist of 5 things you can do to prepare your home to sell. Contact Team Sjodini for help with any of these or for trusted referrals to folks who can.

1. Empty closets and cabinets of extra stuff. Pack it up and have areas open and easy to view.

2. A breath of fresh air! Does your house smell good? There is nothing more appealing than the scent of fresh baked cookies or clean linens. Open the windows! Let the walls and carpets air out from being closed in all winter. But be careful, dont over do it with chemicals like air fresheners that poorly mask odors remove the odors first, then apply the fresheners.

3. Where is "Rover"? We are all fans of our pets, but your new buyer  may not be.  Pet smells and stains need to go, and maybe the pet too.. (at least while you are showing the house..) There are some great day camps for pets that are wonderful solutions to this problem if you are busy at work all day!

4. Dont over furnish. Keep it simple and interesting to best demonstrate the floor plan and architectural details of the property. Lisa Bradburn is an excellant resource for staging advice.

5. Clean, clean, clean! Look with a new set of eyes and be picky with yourself. You want your new buyer to imagine the ease of living in your house. If its dirty or messy they may leave feeling uninterested or even overwhelmed.

Remember, how we live in our homes day-to-day is probably not how we want our house shown for sale. While it is on the market, think of your home as a product for someone to buy. Follow the helpful lists above, ask for help and advice, work with your professional sales team, and remember to have fun in the process!
